LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

NOVEMBER / DECEMBER  2011

H u m b l e T h a n k s ! ! !

Words cannot describe the gratitude we express for the overwhelming
support shown for my cancer benefit. Brenda and I were humbled like you
wouldn’t believe….
For many years, I have participated in various fund raisers throughout the
state. While I cannot personally say that I’ve made them all, we certainly
participated in plenty, plenty. When you get to know the people who the
benefit is for, you realize how valuable your life is and what it means for that
beneficiary to witness a community of love and support. Most who attend,
likely didn’t meet the person, nor will they likely run into this person either
for the rest of their lifetime….but it doesn’t change anything really. Because
what matters most, is that you made a difference in someone’s life. A positive
action that not only helps that person from a monitary point of view; But in a
manner that heals a person’s heart. It lets them know that love is still alive in
this seemingly hateful world.
They say that life is cruel. Well, sometimes, it can certainly be so. But, there
does exist a light of compassion that keeps cruelty in the shadows. It’s there,
but I’ve witness so much love, that I remain positive in my thinking that this
love will always prevail.
We witnessed this…..when one participates in many benefits, you never
realize that one day, you could be on that side of the equation…..and that’s
where I’ve come. Which is why this is all so humbling to us.
Close friends got together and put on a benefit Poker Chip Run on October
23 of this year. It was held at The Armadillo Club in Thibodaux LA. After
registration, riders traveled throughout Houma, Raceland, Lockport areas,
returning back to The Armadillo. Live music provided by Gabe & Blaine,
Whiskey Roads and Classic Whitney. There was a cook-off which provided
food for participants while competing for best dish. All were winners, but
Spahr’s Restaurant took first, the Street Survivors took second and the Gros
Brothers took third. There were many clubs, organizations and independents
who made the run from throughout the area. We were blown away by the
support!!!
There were many great photos taken during the event (thanks Scott Tudury,
Katie Barras and Denise Chauvin) and I figured I’d take my letter from the
editor and devote it to the article while posting as many photos that would
fit, starting on page 7. We hope you enjoy them as much as we have as it
reminds us how special our lives are. Best figures shows roughly 275 bikes
and over 500 folks came out in support. It was overwhelming!!! Thanks to
you all for coming out. And thanks for those who couldn’t make it (and many
of you contacted me to let me know how sorry you were for not being able to
come out). I know your thoughts and prayers are with us, and we wanted you
to know that we humbly appreciate this as well.
There was also tremendous support outside of the benefit. Many family and
friends of the family made donations, and we wanted to make sure that these
folks know how much we appreciated what they did for us. And I’d like to
thank the special friends and family who organized and worked so hard to
put on this event for our behalf.
We recognize the hard work and
effort it takes to put this together
and see it through…..and you
did it with love. And Brenda and
I want you to know how much
we appreciate it. Thanks again to
everyone….thanks for your love
and support during a difficult time.
We are truly blessed to be rich in
friendship. God Bless you!

Till next month,Ride
Safe,Ride Free,but just
Ride!God Bless America,
Our Troops and Their
Families!
